Good
The receptionist was super nice and helpful (and great english). We ended up not staying 2 nights as we intended and he was so nice and gave us half the money back, which was not necessary. The hotel has a rooftop terrace.
We had a room in the ground floor, which had no windows, which made it very dark and the room had a weird smell. The alley leading to the hotel is very narrow and dark, especially in the evening hours.

Very nice and large rooms with lovely bathrooms. Well equipped!
Rain Diwan is located in the middle of the Media but super hard to find without the help of some locals on the streets so let them help you! The rooms are quite big and the AC makes it easy to cool down the temperature at night cause Fes can get really hot. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and the bathroom well equipment. Only the terrace is not really offering space to chill but therefore my room has a couch.
It was not busy so the place felt very empty. Some plants or some quite music would help to create some atmosphere in this beautiful old building ️.

Clean & tidy, lots of old world character with potential to be great. Hard to find.
The Riad definitely has alot of character and its very old, don't book if you like the finer things Clean and tidy, bathroom is super old so isnt in the best shape and only hand held shower head, but adequate for a few nights One guy there that is really helpful and bought a nice plate of tea and dates once in the room and helped with bags up the stairs Nice view from the rooftop, potential to do something nice on the roof Helpful & gave me the room type I requested which was nice Internet was free and fast
First impressions are everything and the reception area has so much potential to absolutely wow guests with high ceilings and stained glass and wood fixtures ect - but is cluttered and could do with a tidy up They don't take anything but cash for the room, but then they arent around when you need to pay. You need to make a time with them to check in/ check out and do anything else. You will need Whatsapp. So many really dark areas of the Riad and the lights are constantly turned off - can be an issue when you're in a new environment & cant find the light switches on the super steep stairs Could probably do alot more to help visitors find the place when they first arrive. Send someone out to meet them, or send a map with a warning, or something. Its right in the middle of the Medina, down a long, dark alley and can be confronting when arriving at night. You can find it with google maps but the hawkers and shop owners constantly howling you're going the wrong way can be offputting even if you are in the right direction!

Nothing special here
The location was great, close to Bab Boujloud, but it was located at the end of a dark narrow alley. The host was welcoming and helpful, he is in fact the best thing about the Riad. Air conditioning in the room was a life saver during our 5-night stay. Another thing we liked was the quietness and calm at night. The riad has a nice terrace with city view.
-- I didn't like the BREAKFAST at all, it wasn't even included in the price. I had to pay extra money (in addition to my stay) to receive a decent breakfast, but all l got was the worst breakfast I've ever had in a hotel (no bread, no olive oil, no cheese, no eggs, no coffee, no orange juice,, nothing of the kind of breakfast you would receive during your stay anywhere in Morocco).I had to go hunting for a decent breakfast for five days in Fes El Bali. -- We found a huge cockroach in the showers which made using the bathroom very annoying afterwards, especially for my wife. -- The Riad itself is veeeeeery overrated and expensive compared to other Riads in the same area. Photos of the Riad and its rooms online mismatch the reality. It looks waaaay better online. You can find better options for less. -- No basic toiletries: like toilet paper, soap, shampoo, etc.
